But then, there are also times when I’m absolutely thankful that the 80s did happen.

One of those times is when we get 80s-inspired fashion gems like this wedge heel from Luichiny, featuring thick elastic straps, an all-out-of-proportion silhouette and the must-have bright neon colors:

It’s so bright and chunky, it would look totally out of place with today’s delicate, floaty boho chic trends. I love it.

The only things missing are a top with shoulder pads, acid wash jeans and hair teased up to there with these wedges and you’re all set to go to an 80s themed party!

Interesting how the two different time periods work together in this shoe doesn’t it?

This mid-heel ankle boot may be mostly Victorian-inspired, but the wingtip toe with the perforated leather at the edges is definitely from the spectator shoe of the 30s and 40s. The end result is a surprisingly harmonious design that comes off as fun and fanciful.

The ex-Dawson’s Creek TV celeb was looking pretty cute when she attended the Shutter Island premiere with her co-star Leonardo Di Caprio in New York.

It was hard to tell whether her outfit was a two-piece or a dress but the look was feminine, simple, and a little edgy. On her feet were a pair of  black T-strap pumps.

Now we all know T-strap pumps came out during the Flapper Era (1920s) along with the appearance of Mary Janes. But this type of shoe silhouette has definitely stayed on until today, not only because of its timeless and versatile appeal, but also because the T-bar that crosses the feet vertically  makes the feet look slim and sexy, making it the perfect shoes to wear if you have wide feet.

Today, T-straps don’t just come in the form of pumps, but also in sandals,  peep-toes, and flats.
