There is an obvious resurgence of pointy toe pumps, and I was personally gaga over the style about five years back. They can level up tailored knee-length shorts and pencil-cut skirts to business casual– plus they come in this assortment of designs that are getting a modern reboot today. Boutique 9′s Jacquelin pumps on top for example, feature a multistrap overlay and a textured stiletto heel for an edgy spin. Kate Spade New York and Elizabeth and James choose to highlight with colors such as licorice red and snakeskin embossed purple.

Suede is also getting much attention from brands like Jean-Michel Cazabat. The brand’s Olympia open toe pumps are in a noticeably retro hue of mint which will create such a statement with a navy blue ruffled skirt and a polka-dotted blouse. And I am especially happy to note that vintage elements such as two-toned pumps are still part of the ranks, like RED Valentino’s black and nude patent pumps. It features a scalloped trim and a delicate bow at the vamp for days when you feel like being a bit more ’40s or ’50s in your style expression.

Retro Vintage Shoe Find: BCBG Max Azria Daisy Patent Leather Pumps

I’ve got a weakness for well-shaped, well-designed pumps. So when I came across this pair of BCBG Max Azria pumps that look 60s-inspired, I just had to feature them here on Retro Vintage Shoes.

The color blocking on these instantly reminded me of the Miu Miu spectator pumps from the Miu Miu Fall 2007 RTW collection:

Except of course, the BCBG Max Azria pumps are not spectator or wingtips and the colors less resemble a puff pastry.

Brown, black and navy are usually too dark when put altogether but the cream inserts on the sides of the BCBG Max Azria pumps offset all that. The heel is also beautifully covered in black patent leather. My favorite part though has got to be the recessed platforms because not only would they make the 4.5-inch heels more manageable, but they also lend a better overall shape to the pumps.

Reminisce the 40′s Era With Vintage Inspired Peep-Toe Pumps

Peep-toe shoes started appearing in the 1940’s, a decade before the stilettos came out. To give you an idea on how peep-toe shoes looked like back then, here are pages from old Sears and Spiegel catalogs.

Back then, it was common to see peep-toe platforms and wedges. And as you can see, colorful shoes were already a hot trend, even in the 40’s.

Since its appearance, peep-toe shoes have become a staple in every girl’s closet. It has managed to stay and turn itself into a classic as countless shoe brands continue to release new designs each season.

The most common version being used today is the peep-toe pumps. This version is possibly one of the greatest shoe creations influenced by the 40′s. A cross between closed-toe pumps and open-toe strappy sandals, peep-toe pumps can be very versatile.
