Taylor went around the U.K. in different colors and styles of oxford heels. She was in town to promote her new album. She may have worn different outfits, but she still got her trusty oxford heels all the while. Well, why ever not? Oxford heels are hip and cool. They’re a girl’s way of combining the sexy menswear in women’s fashion. They’re even easy to style. Taylor actually did great by wearing them with tights under a coat and a skirt as these are sexy ways of putting on oxford heels.

Katy Perry likes her with a bit of flamenco flavor, Natalie Portman prefers preppy, Rachel Bilson goes for a hippie vibe, while Taylor Swift is always the girly-girl.

Tiny, spread out or in huge circles – whichever you way you like them, polka dots always make you feel happy. Polka dots are fun and playful, and it’s so hard not to keep smiling while you’re wearing this pretty print.

Of course, polka dots are also associated with the 50s and the 60s so get your rockabilly on with polka dots! Dresses aren’t the only articles of clothing that’s been infected with polka dots – shoes too are in on the trend:

No less than the hottest and brightest female stars of the young Hollywood ...Read more]]> We’ve already featured quite a number of men’s-adapted-by-women lace-up shoes here on Retrovintageshoes (such as the saddle shoe and the spectator), but the men’s shoe turned women’s shoe that’s really having its moment in the spotlight right now is the oxford / derby.

No less than the hottest and brightest female stars of the young Hollywood set have been seen sporting these lace-up shoe styles, trading in their beautiful but tortuous high heels for the lowly yet comfy oxford or derby shoe:

Set 1: Kristen Stewart, Zoe Kravitz, and Taylor Swift in oxford/derby shoes

Before anything else, can you tell which set is wearing oxford shoes and which set is wearing derby shoes?

Okay, it might be hard to tell apart without say, a magnifying glass, but there is a way to distinguish derby shoes from oxford shoes. Take a closer look at the vamp of the shoe: the lace facings on the derby shoes are NOT stitched to the bottom; they are attached on the oxfords.

As of late, oxford and derby shoes have become interchangeable and derby shoes are now generally classified as oxford shoes as well. But here are more examples anyways, just to distinguish one from the other:

So far, Taylor Swift has been picking the right wardrobe choices, never failing to look fabulous wherever she goes. She has yet to do a fashion faux pax. Although I do hope that won’t happen.

Taylor attended the 2010 People’s Choice Awards last January 6, unescorted, but looking quite fabulous in a Jenny Packham dress (as seen on picture) paired with some oh-so-exquisite metallic peep-toe Louboutins.

The whole look is so in-harmony, I can’t find any fault in it.

Peep-toe pumps go all the way back to the 40’s, it comes in many variations but the one Taylor wore to the PCA is of a classic design, with just the right sole thickness (not too thick like platforms, not too thin either), in a light metallic shade that spells glamour.

Christian Louboutin shoes are priced a little steep, with the lowest starting at US$600. So if you are on a budget, don’t fret. Since this is a classic design, looking for a cost friendly alternative is easy. I was able to come across a few brands that offer similar styles as the Louboutins on Taylor, here they are:

Both the Badgley Mischka Elia Pump and the Martinez Valero Orli Pump are dressier options that are perfect for formal red carpet events since these two are covered in satin.
